You play what you want as any character you want in a game set in Thief universe. Surely, you will miss bigger picture, if you choose to skip one of the campaigns, but even if you do, that won't be much of a problem. And you don't have to do it like Dishonored 2 did, for example, you can make two separate fully-fledged campaigns that tell their own stories. In the first option if you don't want to play as a slow and old dude with minimal action (or at least highly punishable action), you can play as this young lady and forget about stealth entirely, purely because her controls are snappier and she has more tools for easy kills.

Or you could have that girl as your main playable character and Garrett as a secondary that joins you later in the game and it's possible to switch between two on the fly. You know what else they could do, if they wanted a younger player character? They could either have two independent campaigns: one stealth-thieving oriented Garrett's one, and another assassination/sabotage centered campaign of girl from the ending of Deadly Shadows.

Oh, the Builder! These ideas are so good I'm angry at Thief 2014 even more! And now, of course, it's probably too late and they figure it's the property that's not making money and not their cynical asshat selves who can't be bothered to even look at why people loved the original games.

We can make it more complicated than murdering a few bugs in a dark alley and instantly becoming allied with the Hammers. Maybe the faction thing from TDS comes back. Maybe you don't have the mantle command and/or the Deadly Shadows gloves that let you run straight up the wall before getting shot. Either way he's minding his own taffing business, like the beginning of Metal Age, and gets dragged into the plot against his will.Īs far as mechanics, maybe he moves a little slower. Maybe something happened and he's stopped thieving and is back to picking pockets, just to complete the circle back to the beginning of Dark Project. He's somehow managed to survive all these years but everyone he's ever allied with is dead or gone.
